Alicia sets up the hot tub in the alcove, briefly crowding the living room with her janky wooden structure, and transposing the junk in the alcove to the living room floor. Remy trips over a gallon of black paint that Jake bought a long time ago in hopes that they’d let him paint the kitchen black.

“Can you imagine what a nightmare it would have been if that had spilled everywhere?” Remy tries to get a reaction from her, but she ignores him. She doesn’t have the money left for a hose, and fills the tub by toting mop buckets of water from the bathtub.

“And how are you going to drain it, once it’s full?” Remy says.

“There are ways. I’ll worry about it later.”

“How did this Marvin guy drain it?”

“I don’t know! He did somehow, so it’s not impossible.” She tells him that the plan is to fill up the hot tub, then put her wooden structure on top, enclosing it.

“Did you check your measurements first? So you know that the two pieces will fit together?”

“It probably won’t fit. But I’ll figure it out. It’s all a part of the process.”

He tells her it’s a fire hazard and a mold trap. He tells her that she’ll get a yeast infection, or E. coli. “And then you’ll give a yeast infection to me. Then how will you feel?”

“Just think about how much fun you’ll have telling your next girlfriend how nuts I was.”

“Very funny.”

“Jake is supportive of my project,” says Alicia.

“But I’m honest with you. Isn’t that a nice attribute in a partner?”

Alicia stands back to look at the hot tub. She says she’ll probably cover up the Patriots logos. “Maybe I’ll paint it blue.”
